OVERVIEW
M.Sc. Physics is the study of matter, energy, and the relation between them. Physics is the oldest and most basic pure science. Its discoveries find applications in all other sciences, because matter and energy are the fundamental constituents of the natural world. Other sciences are split off ofPhysics to become sciences.
The program M. Sc. Physics at RBU, Mohali, started in the session, 2016-17. Since then the Department has progressed a lot. The curriculum of the Postgraduate (M. Sc.) program is designed as per the latest UGC guidelines following Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to meet the requirements for expertisein the field of Research, Academia and Industry. The students get excellent environment for research and innovation in the Campus. The Department of Physics equip the students with the research skills both in theoretical as well as experimental work. During the course of time, students get ample exposure through the group discussions, seminars, and lectures by the experts from different fields from reputed Institutes. In addition to this the Rayat Bahra University is an active member of Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC). This Cluster includes the Institutes such as Panjab University, IISER, NIPER, etc. which will be very helpful for the students in utilizing the Laboratory and other facilities available in the Institute/University.

FUTURE PROSPECTS
There are a lot of career opportunities within the Country and around the Globe. To serve as a physicist within the Country there are many prestigious organizations such as Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), IITs, IISc, Bengaluru, IISER, NISER, etc. where one can contribute directly to the national interests. Academia or scientific research, are not the only options for a Physics Student, rather there are positions for scientists in industrial research such as Applied Materials, Intel, GE Jack Welch Research Center in Bengaluru, Hewlett Packard etc. Moreover, even if one opts academia or research in national labs, there are plenty of opportunities in India to provide consultancy services for industries and one may even start up their own companies. As entrepreneurs one can have opportunities in the fields of antennas, tracking technology, lasers for medicine and industrial processes, medical devices, semiconductor devices and the solar industry, etc.
